Tips and tricks: Mesh comparative in RealFlow

Hi all!

    thanks for all the tips n tricks. I’m trying to figure out how to calculate the particle radius of the Hybrido particleswith this formula

    rp = sqr( 3 ) * ( Cell size / 2 * Particle sampling )

    But my results on rp came out pretty small. Most of the time I have to multiply it by 10. So can you give me an good example please?

    Is the particle sampling number the min sample e.g. 8 or it is 8x8x8 ???



    1. Hi,

      Usually, if there are 8 particles per cell, and each cell is occupying a volume, you know that each particle is occupying the cell volume / 8. So, the radius for each particle can be solved with this form v=4/3 * Pi * radio^3. If you clear the radius you’ll know what is the radius for each particle.

    as someone said it upper.
    i strongly think you should integrate frost meshing system in realflow…
    i’m a RF user since 12 years at least.i am not a programmer..just an fx artist who try to do pretty pictures or animations without going too far into the matrix details if you see what i mean.i nearly drop the use of RF in my work and tried other solutions, and i discovered FROST on 3DS…which was for me a real evolution for stable meshing..especially in slow-motion which was usually pumping in RF if i didn’t push up the stepping settings and wait my particles for hours…it’s quick it’s simple.i’m surprised you or your team didn’t try to do the same or integrate it for other plateforms.because max users get a real advantage with my opinion.

      Have you tried to use RenderKit? It is like Frost. Renderkit is an external plugin where the particles and meshes are rendered in render time. Unlike Renderkit, Frost is fully integrated in 3DSMax and it has the ability to apply modifiers if you need, for instance.


      1. yes ..i tried it and used it in is a very good way of avoiding those problems..but could you upgrade it to have a viexwport preview..that is the little thing that change everything !

        But frost is a mesher software from ThinkBox and RealFlow has its own mesher. They do the same but from different companies.

      Thanks. I’m glad you like it. About your question. No, it is only the main fluid. I remember I made the secondary too, bubbles and splash but they weren’t necessary to mesh them.
